on the elevated bridge deck. It was officially named the John Fox Viaduct after completion
of the Rogers Pass Project and is a lasting tribute to his contribution to CPR and
engineering history. He was subsquently awarded the Society of Enginer's Churchill Medal
for his work on the project which involved a wide variety of traditional enginering skills,
combined with the most up-to-date computer aided technologies. John became a
member of the Order of Canada in 1991 and was awarded the Julian C. Smith Medal by the
Engineering Institute of Canada in 1989 for his work on the Rogers Pass Project. John Fox,
retired vice-president, engineering, special projects, died
13 April 2001.
