Okanagan Express to Roll Once Again in B.C.
Vancouver British Columbia - The Okanagan Express train, a collection of 1920's and 30's vintage
coaches pulled by modern diesels is set to roll once again. The train will be part of the events at the Okanagan Wine Festival 5 Oct 1984 in
Vernon, B.C.
This is the third outing for the train which is owned by the National Railway Historical Society's (NHRS) Vancouver chapter.
The Express is styled along the same lines as the famed Orient Express featuring natural wood interiors, brass lamps, silver, Damask linen
dinner service, and a brass rail tail-end observation car.
The Express will travel between Vancouver, Vernon, and Kelowna via Kamloops. Terry Fergusson, a NRHS member, said he hopes the train becomes
a major tourist attraction in British Columbia.
The train's other outings earlier this year attracted visitors from as far away as Europe. Ticket information and details on the wine festival
are available from Mission Hill Vineyards in Vancouver (604) 687-2444.
