Holiday Train to End Run in Tri-Cities

Port Moody - The annual CP Rail Holiday Train will pull into Port Moody on Sunday, 19 Dec 2004, at 7:30 p.m., spreading holiday cheer and supporting local food banks.

A host of Canadian musicians travelling on the train, including The Moffatts, will perform for spectators while hot apple cider, hot chocolate and other goodies will be available. A visit from Santa will top off this fun-filled family evening.

The Holiday Train will embark on its two-week, cross-Canada journey on 5 Dec 2004 from St. Therese, Que., and finish its trip in Port Moody, where an event will take place at the new Queens Street Plaza, located at Clarke Street in historic Moody Centre.

This is the sixth year that CP Rail's Holiday Train will be taking to the rails for local food banks, and its message of hope and community support continues to grow each year.

Two freight trains, each illuminated by thousands of festive lights, will visit more than 50 Canadian communities and 25 American locations, staging special events to raise money and support for thousands of Canadians and Americans in need.

Since its launch in 1999, the Holiday Train program has raised close to 213 tons of food and more than $1.5 million for North American food banks.

CP Rail will make cash donations to local food banks in addition to the food and money collected along the way.

All donations collected in a community remain in that community for distribution.

People are asked to bring a non-perishable food item or cash donation for the food bank when they attend the Port Moody event.
