Tourist Train Travelling Through Rockies Derails
A luxury tourist train went off the tracks yesterday in the Rocky Mountains 200 km east of Calgary.
None of the 563 passengers and crew aboard the Rocky Mountaineer were injured in the derailment that saw six cars leave the tracks about
noon.
The train was travelling west to Kamloops from Calgary when the crash happened near Rogers Pass between Golden, B.C., and Revelstoke,
B.C.
An official with Rocky Mountaineer Vacations, which promotes the adventure and scenic wonders of Canada's famed range, said all the
cars that derailed remained upright after the crash.
There was also no damage done to the environment, said the company spokesman.
Passengers aboard the train were taken by bus to Golden, which is about 80 km east of the crash site, and are scheduled to continue
with their vacation with the railway company today.
