Derailment Cleanup Continues

Sudbury Ontario - Clean-up and repair work continued during the weekend on a 19-car CP Rail derailment north of Greater Sudbury early Saturday.

"It's quite remote",said Breanne Feigel, a CP Rail spokeswoman Sunday.

"One of the challenges is getting to it. "It's mixed freight. It has different consumer goods in it".

There were no injuries in the derailment, which occurred about 12:45 a.m., Saturday, about 80 kilometres northwest of Cartier.

"There are no public safety concerns, no environmental issues", said Feigel.

CP Rail is rerouting rail traffic around the site using its own and CN Rail lines.

Feigel said it is not known when repair and clean-up work would be finished at the site.
