Train Derailment in Downtown Calgary

The train went off the tracks in the CP yard.

Calgary Alberta - Canadian Pacific Railway is trying to determine what caused a train derailment in the heart of downtown Calgary early Saturday morning.

Four rail cars jumped the tracks in the CP Rail yards at about 6 a.m.

The 72 car train was carrying glycol, which is a chemical compound used as an automotive antifreeze.

Officials with CP Rail tell CTV News none of the product was spilled, there was no environmental risk, and no one was injured.

Crews are bringing in a crane to right the cars and clear the tracks.

Rail traffic had to be diverted around the derailement area for several hours.
