Canada Post Rejects Site Beside Aboriginal Centre
Winnipeg Manitoba - Students at Gordon Bell High
School who want to use the field next door for sports and recreation, but have to convince the owners of the site at Portage and
Broadway (Canada Post) to find another location for a distribution outlet, were hoping CP would swap land with the City and use
property at Higgins and Main instead.
The former site of the Royal Alexander Hotel is right beside the former home of the Canadian Pacific railway station which is now the
home of the Aboriginal Centre.
Canada Post (CP) claims the property by the Aboriginal Centre is not centrally located enough to serve downtown.
"Eighty letter carriers will work out of that future depot", said CP spokesperson Kathi Neal.
"We determined it is not a good fit for CP".
Hmmm... so the old "CP station" is too far from downtown for the new CP distribution outlet.
Or is too close to the new Aboriginal Centre?
