Two Dead in DM&E Train Derailment
Bettendorf Iowa USA - Transportation safety
officials say two crew members have died in a freight train crash at Bettendorf in eastern Iowa.
National Transportation Safety Board spokesman Keith Holloway says a Dakota Minnesota & Eastern Railroad freight train struck a
group of cars in a rail yard around 2 a.m., Tuesday. He says the crash happened after the train crossed through a switch that was not
wired for the main line.
An NTSB advisory issued early Tuesday says two crew members were killed.
Holloway says eight cars and two locomotives were derailed in the accident.
