Celebrating New Brunswick in McAdam
McAdam New Brunswick - The small York County
Village of McAdam served as the heart of the province's New Brunswick Day celebrations on Monday, 3 Aug 2009. Although a
little overcast in the morning, the weather co-operated for the special day-long event.
The day began with the arrival of passengers at the historic McAdam Railway Station to greetings by an estimated 3,000 people waving
their New Brunswick flags in celebration.
NB Southern Railway provided the passenger train and sales from the trip will go toward preserving the McAdam Railway Station. NB
Southern Railway and McAdam really lucked out when Pan Am Railways added two 100-year-old passenger trains.
Meanwhile, many groups were gathering near the McAdam Rink to take their places in the parade line which travelled from their along
the village's main street, Saunders Road, to the famous station.
Several dignitaries joined the parade, including New Brunswick Lt.-Gov. Hermenegilde Chiasson and his wife, Marcia
Babineau, who rode in one of McAdam's pride and joy, Engine 29.
