DM&E Railroad Keeps Options Open On Expansion Plan
Cheyenne Wyoming USA - The Dakota Minnesota & Eastern
Railroad says it is preserving its option to proceed with its plan to ship Wyoming coal across South Dakota and Minnesota.
On Wednesday, DM&E dropped its condemnation lawsuits against some landowners in northeastern Wyoming.
A company spokesman says that doesn't mean DM&E is abandoning the project. He says the company is changing its tactics in how it
seeks to obtain rights of way from landowners in northeast Wyoming.
DM&E is based in Sioux Falls, S.D., and is owned by Canadian Pacific Railway. It has been working for years to expand and improve
its tracks so it can ship coal from northeast Wyoming.
Some landowners in South Dakota and Wyoming have resisted DM&E's plans.
