CP Train Derails in Saskatoon Railyard
Saskatoon Saskatchewan - Saskatoon Police say a train derailment
in the Sutherland neighbourhood of northeast Saskatoon poses no threat to the public.
A Canadian Pacific train derailed in the railyards, east of Gray Ave. and Central Ave. around 7:35 p.m. Tuesday. CP spokesperson Kevin
Hrysak tells News Talk Radio four cars loaded with cement went off the rails on the property.
There were no injuries and no dangerous chemicals are involved.
Traffic was initially backed up but the gridlock appears to be easing as drivers make it through a detour or avoid the area altogether.
"The plan right now is to split the train at Central Ave. to allow traffic through. Another engine is being called in to do
that", News Talk Radio's Chris Carr reports from the scene.
Hrysak says traffic was expected to be flowing by 10 p.m. at the latest.
