London Ontario - One person is dead after being hit by a VIA passenger train Friday afternoon in east London.
The incident happened shortly before 16:00 near the area of Clarke and Gore Roads.
There is no information on the victim.
Train number 76 was travelling to Toronto.
It had 239 passengers onboard according to a VIA spokesperson.
No injuries were reported on the train.
"VIA's focus is on bringing enroute travellers to their final destinations as quickly and as safely as possible," said the company's spokesperson Mylene Belanger in a statement to CBC News.
"Our onboard crews do their best to stay visible and keep our passengers comfortable and informed throughout the delay," she said.
Passengers on the train have been told the investigation could take three to four hours.
The company said another train that was scheduled to be in London at about 19:00 will be delayed.
The London Police Service is reminding people to practice caution any time they are around the train tracks.
