An impending flood of the Afon Dyfi (Dovey River) in 1948 caused locomotives to be moved to Machynlleth to avoid being cut off should the line become severed by flood waters. Locos were brought down and shedded behind Machynlleth Station during 1948. Here Humpherey Humphries (driver) and Pryce Owen (guard) prepare No. 3 for the day's service on 30 Jul 1948. When the Corris Railway closed on 20 Aug 1948 Number 3 remained behind the station at Machynlleth until 1951 when the Talyllyn Railway acquired it. Essentially the same engine that was delivered to the Corris in 1878 the loco runs today on the Talyllyn but has made at least one visit back to the Corris in the past few years.
