Thomas Bach/Wild Aster - In 1904 this Hunslet loco was delivered new to Dinorwic quarry without a name but numbered 7. It was also named for a racehorse at a later date. Llanberis Lake Railway purchased it in 1969 but did not finish its rebuild until 1988. It was named Thomas Bach, or "Little Thomas", which was the nickname of the loco's regular driver during its quarry days. I believe at one time it carried the nameplate Thomas Bach on one side and Wild Aster on the other. When this photo was taken the engine had a cab. Currently there is no cab on Wild Aster - Date/photographer unknown.
