Operating Steam Locomotives in Canada - 2010 Table of Contents
Introduction
One day I wondered how many steam locomotives are currently operating in Canada. A search turned up a total of just 17 engines. Frankly, somewhat disappointing compared to the United States and the United Kingdom. But... we have a much smaller population so it may just be relative. The interesting statistic turns out to be that 15 locomotives operate west of Winnipeg with only 1 in Ontario and 1 in Quebec where most of Canada's population resides. And... of the 17 nearly a third are ex-Canadian Pacific Railway locomotives. Have I missed any OPERATING Canadian steam locomotives? Send me a telegram Alberni Pacific 7
