The steam train on the Furka mountain route will resume operation on Thursday.

"In the area between the Rätischbachbrücke and the avalanche dam above Oberwald, Monday, around 100 cubic metres of material were discharged," writes the steam railway Furka mountain route DFB in a statement.
 
Around 120 meters of track had to be uncovered again.
 
"60 meters of it was buried up to 2.5 meters high. After the excavation work, 40 tons of ballast were used."
 
According to Gian-David Fluri, the responsible construction department at the DFB had about 30 people on duty.

Now it has been announced that from Thursday, 4 Jul 2024, steam train operations will run again according to the timetable on the entire route between Realp and Oberwald.
