The Autoverlad Furka (Furka Car Transport) lies at the eastern end of Oberwald station. Here you can drive your car onto a covered flatcar for an approximate 15 minute ride through the Furka Base Tunnel to Realp where there is another loading/unloading area. The cost per car, larger vehicles pay more, is CHF25 ($30.50 as of July 2011) during summer months and CHF30 ($36.60) in the winter. Having driven over Furka Pass several times this July (2011) I can certainly see why the railway would charge more in the winter. Assuming the Furkastrasse was even open to vehicles in winter one would not want to drive that perilous route in inclement weather.
