You are looking north at Göschenen. Two SBB trains occupy the station area and face the north portal of the Gotthard Tunnel located behind the trees. A Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn (MGB) rack section of track climbs the viaduct in the foreground. Southbound passengers from Zürich to Andermatt are required to change from their standard gauge SBB train to a metre gauge MGB train for the ascent through the Schöllenen Gorge on this line. SBB trains continuing through the Gotthard Tunnel travel 15 kilometres (9 miles) then exit at Airolo.
