17 June 1984 Sumpter Valley Railroad Sumpter Oregon USA - The Sumpter Valley Railway, which used to be a major logging railway, is being restored. The train, pulled by a 1914 vintage steam engine leaves Dredge Depot on a three mile run and heads toward the town of Sumpter every hour throughout the summer. A special "hobo run" will be the evening of 7 Jul 1984. the train takes you to a clearing in the woods, where you can dance and eat in the light of a bonfire. |
