Non-steaming George England built locomotive Welsh Pony is seen on the turntable at Boston Lodge. Previously oil was applied around the table to reduce the friction. Look closely and you will notice a small steel ramp on the rails to the right. This was placed there to raise the track to the same height as the table. A diesel loco coupled to Welsh Pony then shoved her up this ramp and balanced her on the table with some judicious jockeying. Muscle power then rotated the engine. This turning was necessary to place her chimney (stack in North American lingo) forward when backed into the old loco shed for the night photography session.
