The first station building east of Porthmadog is located here at Minffordd. Merddin Emrys is now the down train returning to Porthmadog in this photo. From here it is just a short walk to an underpass which leads to the National Rail platform which crosses below the Ffestiniog line out of sight on the left. The Ffestiniog has two connections with the National Rail system, the one here, and the other at Blaenau Ffestiniog where it meets the Conwy Valley line from the north. Minffordd station also contains a signal room with all the necessary relays and electrical equipment to control signals along this portion of the line.
