This telephoto shot taken from the pedestrian overbridge shown in the last photo sees Merddin Emrys entering Tan-y-Bwlch from the west. That's a childs playground off to the left with the cafe out of view next to that. Notice the power operated switch points and the low dwarf signal, very modern for a heritage railway. The rail is also much larger and heavier than the railway's original metals. In fact, the 1836 track utilized metal rails and chairs on stone sleepers (ties).
