1 August 2013 Transport Canada Searches MM&A's Quebec Offices Farnham Quebec - The railway company at the heart of the Lake Megantic train disaster is once again the target of investigators. This time, Montreal Maine & Atlantic's offices in Farnham were searched on Thursday by Transport Canada investigators, who were accompanied by RCMP officers. In late July, 15 Surete du Quebec investigators raided the same offices. According to Transport Canada communications manager Marie-Anyk Cote, a warrant was issued to Transport Canada in its search to determine whether the rules and regulations under the Railway Safety Act and the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act were followed. Though it's conducting its own investigation, Transport Canada is also cooperating with the Transportation Safety Board's separate investigation. Cote said Transport Canada could not comment on the details of its inquiry into the Lake Megantic derailment and explosion, but did say that any events of non-compliance under those acts are subject to criminal prosecution.
