Saint John New Brunswick - Transport Canada searched the offices of Irving Oil in New Brunswick this week for evidence in connection with a fatal train crash in Lake Megantic.
 
The federal department obtained a warrant as part of its investigation into the deadly accident a spokesman for Transport Minister Lisa Raitt said on Friday.
 
"Transport Canada is therefore carrying out its investigation at the offices of Irving Oil in Saint John, New Brunswick," Jan O'Driscoll wrote in an e-mail.
 
The department is looking at whether rules and regulations in the Railway Safety Act and the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act were broken.
