Brienz Switzerland - The Brienz Rothorn Bahn begins operation to Planalp again this Sunday and then from 18 to 31 May 2013.
 
The railway will run to the summit beginning 1 Jun 2013.
 
"For now, we run only to Planalp," says Simon Koller, Director of the Brienz Rothorn Bahn, "But this is particularly worthwhile."
 
The spring-like landscape above Brienz certainly has charm, says Koller.
 
During the winter months staff worked vigorously in the workshop at Brienz to bring the locomotives into shape.
 
An elaborate job.
 
To make three generations of steam locomotives road worthy needs a huge effort.
 
These showpieces of yesteryear are now all in use to Planalp.
 
The Planalp offers a magnificent view and the mountain house invites you to linger.
 
This winter an enormous amount of snow had fallen, in turn, the BRB is facing a major challenge.
 
"There is still a lot of work going on," says Koller.
 
However, the railway is anxious the route will be road worthy for the opening on 1 Jun 2013.
