As the ascent continues, still being followed by another rail car, there is a clear view of the Alpnacher See (Alpnacher Lake) in the distance below. In the far distance, at the end of the lake, you can just make out the town of Stansstad which lies at the point where the Alpnacher See joins the Vierwaldstättersee (Lake Lucerne.) I don't understand why the German names sometimes have the name followed by a space then the word "See", and sometimes "see" is included with the name. Can anyone help?.
