Southern Railway number 925, a Schools Class 4-4-0 named Cheltenham, has stopped at the Alton platform after the last trip of the day while a Southwest Trains EMU set approaches the opposite platform ending its trip from Waterloo, London. The square tower left of the photo's center is one side of a recently constructed footbridge connecting the platforms. The old wooden footbridge is currently out of commission until repairs can be completed.
