Bishops Lydeard Somerset - What better way to celebrate 40 years of one of Somerset's biggest tourist attractions than with a specially brewed beer at a Bishops Lydeard brewery.
Quantock Brewery will this weekend launch the Quantock Gold '76 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of West Somerset Railway (WSR) in 1976.
Staff have been involved in choosing the hops for the beer and the brewing.
They've even had a sneak taste of the tipple before the official launch at the West Somerset Spring Gala on Saturday, 5 Mar 2016.
Quantock Gold '76 will be available in bottles exclusively on WSR trains and shops and cafes as well as at the Brewery Tap in Bishops Lydeard.
It will also be available on draught at the Spring Gala and other WSR events throughout the year.
Rob Rainey, head brewer and MD at Quantock Brewery said, " We're very pleased with how the beer has turned out. The railway staff chose an excellent selection of hops and malt to produce a golden, hoppy, beer with a fruity nose."
Colin Howard, head of commercial services at the WSR added, "It's a great ale, that's light, golden, and lovely."
Cheryl Ford, director of the brewery said, "We're excited at continuing to build our relationship with one of Somerset's foremost tourist attractions and are delighted that they chose us to brew this fabulous beer in this important year in railway history."
The beer was named following a competition held by the WSR plc, the winners being Jenny Bowman, and David Walker.
