Zillertalbahn Continues
on its Road to Success

Jenbach - Once again Zillertaler Verkehrsbetriebe AG was able to generate a positive result by Wolfgang Stöhr of the Management Board.

In 2016, a significant profit was achieved and it succeeded in tripling the reserves of the company in just two years creating a stable economic basis for the Zillertalbahn.

Having generated a marginally positive result in 2015, the process of change that we embarked on continued in 2016 so we were able to achieve a positive operating result of around €822,000.

"Such an improvement in results can only be achieved if everyone pulls together and moves in the same direction!"

Stöhr expresses his appreciation for the cooperation of all.

The earnings improvement of the Zillertalbahn was achieved with almost the same number of employees and no increase in public payments.

Although significant savings could be achieved in terms of expenditure, the most important results are significant improvements in the steam train and the excursion bus traffic.

With the aim to win more passengers for the nostalgic trains, there have been many changes, especially in the steam train operation.

With the simultaneous reduction of the steam train travels, the consistent implementation of a "revitalization concept" for the steam train, it has succeeded in increasing passenger numbers by around 30 percent in just two years.

An important success in securing the steam train operation of the Zillertalbahn.

All in all, many small measures have led to a very positive result and form another component of making the company fit for the future and economically stable.

This is particularly important because the Zillertalbahn is one of the largest modernization projects since the company was founded.

At the heart of this project is the switch to electrically powered, CO2 neutral, quieter, and faster trains.

With this in mind, the Supervisory Board of Zillertaler Verkehrsbetriebe AG appointed second board member Helmut Schreiner from Salzburg to the company at the end of March 2017.

Since then, Schreiner has been responsible for operations, technology, and the processing of future projects.

As CFO, Stöhr is responsible for the commercial agendas of the company.
