Volunteers are planning to create an information board and a village history book for Finghall near Leyburn.
 
The tiny community well known for it's annual barrel push and as one of the stations on the Wensleydale Railway, was first mentioned in the Domesday Book in 1086.
 
One well known resident is Sir Edward Banks, born in 1770 he became a renowned builder, best known for rebuilding London Bridge.
 
A grant from the Richmondshire Area Partnership has been given to help create the new links to the past.
 
A history day to gather more information is being held on Saturday, 12 Jan 2019, in the Methodist Chapel between 11:00 and 15:00.
 
Spokesman Eddie Hemsley said, "We would like to hear from anyone with interesting anecdotes about people or events from Finghall's past and anyone who wants to find out more about the history project."
