Sound Transit is expanding its parking permit program to its busiest stations.
 
Generally, at that lot, the spaces start filling up slowly, but by about 07:00, traffic quickly rolls in, and all the spots are filled.
 
Sound Transit says it will soon allow solo drivers to reserve spots with a permit program.
 
The program will be in place at the Edmonds, Mukilteo, Edmonds, Tukwila, Kent, Auburn, Sumner, Puyallup, and Lakewood Sounder stations, transit centers in Federal Way, Issaquah, Mercer Island, and the light rail stations in Tukwila and Angle Lake.
 
No more than half the station lots will be set aside for permit parking when they go on sale as soon as September, to be used starting October.
 
Prices will be set based on a market analysis of local parking rates.
 
Those without permits will continue to be able to park on a first-come, first-served basis.
