The iconic Flying Scotsman will be steaming through the Forest of Dean this Friday, 19 May 2019.
 
Following a successful 2016 programme, the world's most famous steam locomotive, A3 Class 60103 Flying Scotsman, is once again travelling the country.
 
The Flying Scotsman will be taking passengers on a scenic journey along the 20 miles of the Severn Estuary from which steam trains fans will be able looking to catch sight of the famous locomotive.
 
The train was originally built in 1923 for the London & North Eastern Railway at Doncaster Works and was used on the London to Edinburgh route.
 
The steam locomotive was retired from regular service in 1963 after travelling some 2,076,000 miles.
 
But in retirement, following numerous rebuilds, the train continues to tour the country.
 
The flying Scotsman is due to pass through Lydney Station on its journey from Cardiff at 19:39 and will travel through Awre at 19:47 and will leave the Dean shortly afterwards as it heads to Gloucester.
 
The return journey will be via the Severn Tunnel with the Flying Scotsman being unhitched from the carriages at Bristol leaving the passengers to be hauled back to Cardiff by diesel locomotive.
