Heber City Utah - Creeping through the vivid green trees at the base of the sheer mountainside in Provo Canyon on Tuesday, the Heber Creeper made its season debut, marking the beginning of summer.
Of course today the railroad prefers to be known by its grown-up moniker, the Heber Valley Railroad.
Trains first began running between Heber and Provo in 1899.
In the early 1970s, the railroad became the Heber Creeper, a tourist passenger train.
Today the railroad is a non-profit organization focused on tourism, education, and the restoration of historic railroad equipment.
"Our goal is to help you enjoy a slice of Americana which has otherwise disappeared," train officials said.
The Heber Valley Railroad has appeared in a number of motion pictures and was featured on television episodes of "Touched by an Angel" and "Promised Land."
"Our steam engine and 10 of our railroad cars have been featured in more than 35 motion pictures over the past 20 years," officials said.
"Today, vintage and restored coaches are pulled through the beautiful Heber Valley by a variety of locomotives, including two 1907 Baldwin steam locomotives and three vintage diesel electric locomotives."
The Heber Valley Railroad has created several specialty excursions, including murder mystery train rides, barbecue rides, zip-line rides, and even winter tubing.
