This is Tehachapi Loop. A Union Pacific train is climbing upgrade in the railroad direction named south. The lead units are just visible to the right of the two people with their backs to the camera. Two pushers seen in the distance bring up the rear of the train. The head-end is about to enter Tunnel 10 around the curve to the right just out of the picture. A small white cross, barely visible, sits atop the hill in the center of the loop. A granite marker reads: "In memory of conductor Everett S. Crown and brakeman Allan R. Riess who lost their lives in a tragic train wreck in San Bernardino Calif. 12 May 1989"
