Ashcroft British Columbia - Ashcroft British Columbia - The CP Spirit of 150 Rail Tour is coming to town as part of a tour of 33 BC communities that are celebrating the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Crown colony of British Columbia.
The tour will stop on Monday, 23 June 2008, between 4:45-7:30 p.m. at the same location as the Christmas Holiday train does, across the street from the drug store on Railway Ave.
Visitors can view historic displays, watch a stage show, and interact with costumed performers depicting some of the province's most entertaining and notorious historical figures. The train is the vintage CP 2816 Empress steam locomotive built in 1930 by the Montreal Locomotive Workers. It pulls two vintage passenger coaches, a business car and baggage car converted into a travelling museum along with a stage car.
The Royal British Columbia Museum will create an exhibition in the heritage baggage car with a travelling version of "Free Spirit: Stories of You, Me, and B.C.". A major exhibition which is all about our province.
So come out and celebrate with your friends and neighbours and help create your own story on this momentous day. Light refreshments are expected to be made available from one of our community service clubs.
