Traffic Moving Again on CP Line in B.C. After Derailment
10 October 2007
Traffic is rolling again on the CP Rail mainline after Monday's derailment of two trains in a canyon between Ashcroft and Lytton, west of Kamloops.
CP spokeswoman Brianne Fliegel says one track is now clear, while the other should be open Wednesday.
The derailment involved two trains, including one on a siding, and resulted in 24 empty cars going off the tracks.
Despite the opening, the Rocky Mountaineer tourist train had to bus its passengers from Vancouver to Kamloops again today.
The causes of the derailments are still under investigation.
