Railpower Technologies number 2001 is an ex-Southern Pacific model GP9 rebuilt as a one-of-a-kind prototype hybrid with a small diesel-driven generator to recharge a bank of batteries supplying power to the traction motors. Less powerful units such as this one are known as a "Green Kid" while "Green Goat" units have a higher power rating. Bankrupt Railpower Technologies of North Vancouver was acquired by R.J. Corman Railroad Group of Kentucky in 2009.
