Eastbound loaded Colorado coal trains must descend from the Moffat Tunnel down a twisting route through 28 tunnels across the Front Range until reaching Coal Creek Canyon off to the left in this photo. This single DPU (Distributed Power Unit) brings up the tail-end with 3 units mid-train and 2 units leading to provide braking for these loads.
