Final preparations are underway for the inaugural Statfold Model Railway Event at the Statfold Narrow Gauge Museum in Tamworth on the weekend of 9-10 Apr 2022.
Set in 1,000 acres of stunning Staffordshire countryside, the Statfold Narrow Gauge Museum near Tamworth was established in August 2017 and is home to the UK's largest collection of working narrow gauge steam locomotives.
Sponsored by Hornby Magazine and Tony's Trains of Rugby, this new two-day model railway show will feature more than 30 layouts including Hornby Magazine's recently completed OO9 layout "Fairlie Syniad Da" and OO gauge Great Central Railway inspired Quorn Magna, plus Duxbury (OO, BR 1960s), Southgate Park (OO, BR NSE), Hackworth (Jutland St.) (OO, BR 1950s), Halland (OO, BR 1960s), Middle Elmton (N, BR 1960s), Merstone and Ventnor West (OO, Isle of Wight), Crewe Gresty Bridge (OO, contemporary), Medway Quay (O, 1950s), and more.
As you might expect, narrow gauge modelling features highly too, with OO9 layouts Ridge Lane, Coleford, Tryffan Ddu, and Tanybwlch set to attend, together with Campbell's Quarry (16 mm:foot).
The Hornby Magazine team will also be in attendance all weekend with special show-only offers on subscriptions, publications, DVDs, and models, while Bachmann Europe will be showcasing its latest models and in-development projects.
A strong line-up of trade support has been assembled including Dave Angell Trains, Don Bishop Photography, Footplate Models, Invicta Model Rail, Malc's Models, Nick Tozer Books, Scale Model Scenery, Tony's Trains of Rugby, TTC Diecast, Videoscene, WM Collectables, and many more.
Train rides and access to the museum and roundhouse are also included in the ticket price, while six of the museum's large collection of narrow gauge locomotives are due to be in steam.
The museum's Burton and Ashby number 14 tram will also be running, so visitors can hop on and off the railway at leisure.
You will also be able to try your hand at driving a locomotive with "Driver for a Fiver" experience.
For visitors planning to travel to the event by train, a complimentary vintage bus shuttle will also be running between Tamworth railway station and the museum.
Advance tickets are on sale now, priced at £13 for adults, £10.50 for concessions, £5 children and £35 for a family (2+2).
On-the-day ticket prices will be £15, £13.50, £8 and £40 respectively.
