Coronation Day
6 May 2023

Today Charles III was Crowned King of the United Kingdom and Other Commonwealth Realms in a historic ceremony at Westminster Abbey.

Charles acceded to the throne on 8 Sep 2022 upon the death of his mother Elizabeth II.

"And now for something a little different", as Monty Python would say.

While this event was broadcast live world-wide followed by many photographs and videos here's a coronation photo you likely haven't seen.

The North Yorkshire Moors Railway ran special trains during the coronation.

In the photo above by Scott Cunningham, heritage steam locomotive London Midland & Scottish (LMS) number 5428, known as a "Black Five", departs Goathland station for Pickering on the day of the coronation.
