Whiffen Spit.
Really people...  as a reminder, vehicles in the roundabout have the right-of-way and you are to give-way to those vehicles before entering the roundabout. You're required to signal to indicate your exit and that's the ONLY signal required.

School zones.

ALSO...  As long as we're talking traffic rules, are you aware there are two types of school signs with different speed limits?

TYPE 1 SCHOOL ZONE - This School Zone speed limit sign requires a maximum speed of 30 kph applicable between 8 AM and 5 PM on school days.

TYPE 2 SCHOOL ZONE - This School Zone speed limit sign requires a maximum speed of 40 kph ONLY when children are present on the road or shoulder, otherwise, the required speed is the nearest posted speed limit sign.

EXAMPLE - There are three TYPE 2 school signs located along Highway 14 in Sooke, at Saseenos Elementary, Sooke Elementary, and at John Muir Elementary schools. The posted speed limit approaching Saseenos Elementary and John Muir Elementary is 60 kph, therefore, if there are no children present on the highway, or shoulder, the maximum speed is 60 kph, not 40 kph !

NON-STANDARD SIGN - Driving past Sooke schools during school hours one will see this orange child shaped sign. This is not a standard British Columbia traffic sign and has no authority to set the speed limit in any school zone. It is for information purposes only and tends to confuse drivers about the maximum speed permitted. Your driving speed is determined solely by posted BC standard school signs, Type 1 or Type 2, as shown above.
