At the risk of repetition, motorists can expect more delays resulting from roundabout work at Throup and Church roads.
The District of Sooke announced that with significant work on the Church/Throup roundabout project about to begin, a temporary closure of that intersection will be in effect Tuesday, 29 Aug 2023 to Friday, 1 Sep 2023 from 07:00 to 19:00.
A 27 Aug 2023 statement from the district said detours will be in place, and those travelling in the area should allow for additional time and follow signage and instructions from traffic personnel who will be on location to support the safety of the public and construction crews alike.
The work is part of the implementation of Sooke’s transportation master plan, which is expected to be completed by late spring or early summer in 2024.
Additional closures and traffic impacts are anticipated during the project’s duration.
"Patience is requested through the construction period as we progress community priorities for long-term traffic management in Sooke," the statement noted.
