The Sooke Fall Fair shows no signs of aging out, except when it comes to its devoted volunteers.
"Everything went very well this year. Attendance was up from last year, which was very nice to see, and even though admission was by donation, we were very impressed with the number of people who dropped in a $20 bill," said Sooke Fall Fair vice-president Ida McDonald regarding the 110th edition of the popular community event over the weekend.
She added that that will all go toward making next year's fair even bigger and better.
McDonald said increasing the number of volunteers is an essential focus on the road ahead to next year's event.
"We have a lot of volunteers that have been helping out for many years and some of them have retired. We're hoping that some of the people who came out and enjoyed the fair this year will look at helping out with next year's event. Attending one of our meetings is a great way to find out more about becoming a volunteer," she explained.
The Sooke Fall Fair Society holds meetings starting at 19:00 on the third Wednesday of each month at the Sooke Community Hall.
