The spotlight is on the Sooke Community Theatre on 23 Sep 2023 as the Edward Milne Community School Society hosts a comedy night to raise funds to upgrade the theatre's lighting equipment.
 
The goal is to raise $2,000.
 
If more money is raised, funds will go toward EMCSS youth programming.
 
Syd Bosel's Hot Flash Comedy features four comedians, Bosel, Helen Schneiderman, Elyott Ryan, and Christine Hackman, who will spill their lives onto the stage.
 
Bosel cut her teeth in Vancouver’s comedy scene and recently moved to the Island.
 
Her comedic accomplishments include participating in Spotify's Just For Laughs comedy album, being voted second as fan favourite in B.C.'s Funniest New Female Comic competition, and opening for the I Am Woman Hear Me Laff tour.
 
In 2022, Bosel placed second in the Funniest Person with a Day Job competition.
