Christine Lervold will be acclaimed Monday (18 Sep 2023) as the new Sooke School District trustee, representing the Belmont Zone.
The trustee position became available after former trustee Ravi Parmar stepped down to run for the the vacant Langford-Juan de Fuca MLA seat.
Lervold, a consultant and former teacher, ran unsuccessfully in last year's municipal election.
"Throughout my personal and professional career, I have always been an advocate for lifelong learning and educational programming, services, and learning environments that ensure equity, diversity, and inclusiveness," said Lervold in her election platform.
Lervold said she will focus on student well-being, support educators, promote transparency, engage with parents, the community, and advocate for new school construction in response to growth in the Westshore and Sooke regions as trustee.
With no other candidate putting their name on the ballot, Lervold will be acclaimed as the candidate on Monday when the school district will move forward with the oath of office and orientation.
