Steam Train Trek to Celebrate British Columbia
A vintage Canadian Pacific steam train will stop in 33
communities across B.C. this summer to commemorate the province's 150th anniversary of when it became a British colony.
Dubbed the CP Spirit of 150 Rail Tour, the locomotive will kick off its trek in Sparwood in southeastern B.C. on
12 Jun 2008, eventually wrapping up the tour 6 Jul 2008 in Vancouver, a B.C. Ministry of Tourism news release
said Friday.
It will pass through Surrey on Canada Day.
"The train includes the vintage Empress 2816 steam locomotive and support cars, two vintage passenger coaches, a vintage business
car, a heritage baggage car converted into a travelling museum and a vintage stage car", it said. "The museum car features a
selection of artifacts from the Stories of You, Me and BC, a major exhibit at the Royal B.C.
Museum".
