You must get up early in the morning to catch the light in the canyons, but not too early, for the hills shade the tracks in most locations. Signal 817 is a favourite location for me as it is located with easy access from the Trans-Canada Highway. CP 9721 East emerges below the highway overpass into morning sunlight.
