Ogden Shops in Alstom Hands
Calgary Alberta - Canadian Pacific Rail's Ogden Shops, Calgary, are now managed and operated by Alstom Transport.
Thirty-five former CP Rail supervisors are now Alstom employees, and they are managing 500 unionized workers, who have remained CP Rail employees.
Alstom owns the shop's parts inventory and equipment, and leases the facilities.
Alstom Transport Service Senior Vice President Hamdi Conger said the company, in addition to maintaining and overhauling CP Rail equipment, will offer contract
freight car, locomotive, and component overhaul services, primarily to the western North American market.
He indicated that, with additional contract work, volume at the shop could increase as much as 20%, to $400 million over the next ten years.
