Charles Drinkwater was selected as Canadian Pacific Railway's first Secretary-Treasurer.

In February 1901 Charles Drinkwater, assistant to the president of the railway company, described the Yoho Valley discovery to James A. Smart, Deputy Minister of the Interior during a visit to Ottawa. Drinkwater followed up his interview with a letter to Smart and recommended that the Yoho Valley be set aside as a park reserve.

Obviously impressed with the tourist possibilities of the recent discoveries, Drinkwater also made a formal application for the grant of a 23 acre area near the railway station at Field, on which the railway company proposed to construct stables, a corral, and other improvements that might be required to serve the visitors that would be attracted by the scenic wonders that had been disclosed - Wikipedia.
