Gordon Ansley, locomotive engineer and a one time pusher engineer on the Big Hill
near Field, still maintains close ties with the days of steam as evidenced by this scene in his workshop.
Immediatly before him is a small power generating station entirely built by himself, except for the war
surplus generator. At 70 pounds boiler pressure the outfit delivers 40 watts.
Mr. Ansley also designed and built a small steam engine, devising and drawing up
his own plans, wooden patterns, and finishing off the castings, some of which he also made. The engine
develops two horse power and has been used to propel a sixteen-foot boat. In the back ground is a scale model
of a caboose, which carries the name of Silverdale Railroad and transports small fry around the Ansley garden
on summer afternoons.
